Fans of live music and painting will have an opportunity to see work by Denver-based live-performance painter Keith “Scramble” Campbell in Lafayette this week.

After being invited to Colorado in 2000 by the band Widespread Panic to paint their show at Red Rocks, Campbell fell in love with the Colorado music scene and moved from Florida to join in the fun.

“In fact, the following week I painted String Cheese (Incident),” Campbell said. “I’ve painted most of their performances at Red Rocks since then.”

From that time, Campbell has become a regular feature at Red Rocks and other area concert venues. He has created more than 400 original works of art live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. His vast portfolio includes more than 2,600 pieces from nearly 1,000 musical events across the country over 25 years.

“This year is my 17th year at Red Rocks painting live, and my 13th annual Art Show at the visitor center. I had about an 80-piece Art Show up there, it went extremely well,” he said. “Red Rocks is great because it’s kind of like a space where, it’s become a convention spot for your favorite band to play multiple nights.”  Read More…
