dso_bt_14Possibly one of the finest tribute bands on tour, Dark Star Orchestra is scheduled to perform at the Boulder Theater for two nights starting Friday, March 28. For over 16 years Dark Star Orchestra, also known to their fans as DSO, has been touring coast to coast paying homage to the music of the Grateful Dead. In fact the band is set to surpass the total number of concerts the Grateful Dead played, 2,318. DSO plans to hold their 2,318th concert in San Francisco on this very tour.

From a recent press release: “For over 16 years, Dark Star Orchestra has embodied the Grateful Dead’s live experience for fans both old and too young to have ever seen their own Grateful Dead show.”

“Numerous guest musicians have sat in with Dark Star Orchestra, including Phish’s Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman, Steve Kimock, Peter Rowan, Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Keller Williams, Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes and every living member of the original Grateful Dead.”

Former Grateful Dead vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux said of DSO, “Playing with Dark Star Orchestra feels just exactly like it felt when I was playing with the Grateful Dead.”

The Second Story Garage studio is giving away a pair of tickets to Friday evening’s show, to enter follow this link. See you at the show.
