August saw the return of NedFest, Nederland’s annual music festival and the first festival since the passing of its founder “Michigan” Mike Torpe.  When the festival gates opened on Friday everyone, vendors and staff alike had smiles and were dedicated to continuing on the Nederland music tradition, now in its 14th year.   The music of the first day was a fantastic mix of bluegrass and jam grass into full on rock and roll.  It rained a bit but for the most part was a picture perfect day at the festival. The night ended with the JGB band featuring Melvin Seals and a large audience of festifarians enjoying the night.

The Following days revealed that instead of one person doing the job of ten, ten people did those jobs just as well.  The festival lives on and we could not be happier.  Even with the Kinfolk Celebration in Lyons and Reggae on the Rocks in Morrison, NedFest thrived.  We look forward to future NedFest and are already making plans for next year… the 15 annual music festival in Nederland, Colorado.  Here are some photos from C. Alan Crandall and A video of the Sunday “Super Group” from our friend Steve!  Enjoy.  We think Mike would be proud of this year’s event and how well the crew did in carrying on this wonderful festival.
