Editor’s note: This is the second in our series of sharing Photographer Lynn Richter’s great photos and words from last year’s NedFest. A reminder that these post will appear in no specific order to their original newsletter publication. Enjoy.
It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, I was drivin’
Trees flew by, singin’ little runaway
I was flyin’
Yeah runnin’ down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
Runnin’ down a dream
I felt so good like anything was possible
Running Down a Dream – Tom Petty
Day 5 of the journey to Nedfest.
Went to Pearl Street in Boulder in the morning………stopped at my favorite Boulder poster shop to pick up a few “needed” posters…………then off to the Rocky Mountain National Park in the afternoon……….gotta use that “senior” pass that gets me in free to the National Parks………..worked my way back to Nederland about dusk. Nedfest starts on Friday…….checked into the hotel on Thursday evening……three blocks from the festival grounds and one block from the bars……….and a hundred yards to the liquor store……..this could work!!
Found a Bluegrass jam thing going on at the First Street Pub in Nederland………a excellent touring band called the “New Old Calvary” from Bloomington, Indiana was playing and a steady stream of local pickers were setting in……….very informal……..more like a house party then a show……..a few locals maybe 20 to 30 people drifting in and out of the bar…………..party on the patio out back……..the bar served wine………so alcohol was involved……..closed the place………..its going to be a good weekend!!
