Editor’s Note: This is the next installment in our revisiting of photographer Lynn Richter’s coverage of last year’s NedFest. Enjoy. For tickets to this weekend’s NedFest visit www.NedFest.org.
David Grisman closed Saturday night at Nedfest with a great set……..filled the place up………….made me appreciate the photographers pass from Michigan Mike…………..this old hippie could not have defended territory on the rail long enough to get this set documented ……..access to the pit was the only way.
I have said it before, but the Saturday night after festival party had some of the best rock and roll moment out of a lot of good ones at Nedfest…………Oakhurst……..playing the late night set at the Black Forest Lodge main room on August 27th……….no lights in the room…….couple candles……..some red lights on the sound gear………..a shaft of light shining thru the door way to the bar…….maybe 100 people………a bunch in costume……..dressed as goats, pole dancers, chickens, Rocky Horror outfits, Village People……..no explanation given……….the band was in the zone………on fire……..playing in a place that few bands ever get to………the dancers were in a primal frenzy………….trance dancing around an ancient fire………….sensory overload………..I had to sit down. No lights = no photographs to prove it ever happened………could have been a dream.
