The Kinfolk Celebration was first held in Lyons in 2002 and now, on the ten year anniversary, Yonder Mountain String Band and the festival returns to Lyons, Colorado to celebrate their roots and hometown fans.
From the festival website “Ten years since the inaugural Kinfolk Celebration danced and smiled its way across the Planet Bluegrass Ranch, Yonder Mountain String Band’s annual celebration of community, camping, and musical mania is returning home to Lyons, CO.”
This year the band is focused on its Colorado fans. YMSB has been asking fans to suggest their favorite tunes for the band to play during the two day celebration and they plan to play a “fan request” set during the event.
The celebration will also feature a silent auction to benefit the Colorado Fire Relief Fund including archived posters, signed merchandise, tickets to upcoming events, as well as instruments and gear from the band’s vault.
We poked around a bit in our archives to find photos or images from that first Kinfolk Celebration and after a few twist and turns decided to instead offer up some great views from this year’s RockyGrass held at the same festival grounds and put on by the same folks at Planet Bluegrass.
