If you know anything about String Cheese Incident’s Kyle Hollingsworth, you know he loves music and beer. A couple of years ago Hollingsworth began teaming up with local breweries creating special batches of cooked, brewed and fermented concoctions. Not all of these combinations were hits, however some were really good. So now how do you share your brews and love of beer with other beer fans? Brew Fest!
Teaming up with SCI’s partner charity the Conscious Alliance, Hollingsworth has sold out three local beer festivals where attendees receive a limited edition Kyle’s Brew Fest logo pint glass, food and beer… yes lots of beer. At this year’s Kyle’s Brew Fest there were up to 30 breweries pouring 60 different beers. A treat at this years Brew Fest was the home brew tent where participants could taste various small batches of Kyle’s and others home brews, something you rarely get to do outside of some brewers inner circle.
Hollingsworth’s signature beer brewed by Boulder Beer, Hoopla Pale Ale came from Kyle’s desire to make a beer that would be a tasty craft brew that was not too heavy for a hot festival day. Now offered in cans the beer is more festival ready than ever.
The event is a benefit for the Conscious Alliance who offered up a silent auction for many cool rock collectables. You can still support their charity and score some cool rock art and gear at their online store www.consciousalliance.org.
We are fortunate here in Colorado to have so many craft brewers, beer festivals and great music. If you love beer, supporting charity events or great music this is the place to be.
