The holidays are a time for giving and receiving and tonight you have a couple of opportunities to do both at the same time.
We are heading over to the Mark Vann Foundation benefit concert at the Boulder Theater to check out the Great American Taxi and Friends including The Contribution, Featuring Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth, Keith Moseley of String Cheese Incident, Matt Butler of Everyone Orchestra, Sheryl Renee, & Jeff Miller and Phil Ferlino of New Monsoon, Everyone Orchestra, the Bill McKay Band, Andrew McConathy and the Drunken Hearts The Banjorchestra and more.
That is not all… if you are not into the large benefit, silent auction and multiple band then right around the corner you can attend another benefit, this one is in the memory of Nederland’s Michigan Mike and is revisiting the Acid Jazz that Mike helped happen at regular intervals in Ned.
Here is a description of the tribute by the Motet’s Scott Messersmith: “A tribute to Michigan Mike, in the form of an old-school Nederland Acid Jazz session, takes place Friday, Dec. 16 at Shine (2027 13th Street – between Pearl and Spruce) in Boulder. The improv jam features Dave Watts, Scott Messersmith, Bill Kopper, and Kerwin Brown and other guests. The cover is only a $3 suggested donation. The new venue is “gathering place for food, movement and nightlife” and is owned by the Emich sisters who ran the Trilogy Wine Bar. It features “amazing (and affordable)” food including grass-fed beef burgers, lasagna, tacos, plenty of veggie and vegan items and an entire gluten free menu.”
So there you go… two great opportunities to both give and receive and if you are like us, we plan to hit both… happy holidays!
