Robert Randolph

Robert Randolph and the Family Band played to a packed Boulder Theater, Friday Oct. 21. The band broke into their fun filled jams playing some of their old standards. Randolph is amazing at the steel guitar and I have seen him rip song from rock legends in his signature and entertaining style.

I first saw Randolph over ten years ago in Telluride and many times since. Every time I see him it is a party. He had the audience at the Boulder Theater smiling and dancing. Randolph played a very nice version of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Riviera Paradise. He also invited an audience member to come up and jam with the band and Mark Niernberger, guitarist of Leadville Cherokee took the offer and the resulting song looked and sounded like they had been jamming together for years. The way Leadville Cherokee’s Niernberger jammed I recommend checking out their band!

I really enjoyed Randolph’s “If I had my way” and he once again invited the ladies to the stage to join him and the band on the stage for a song and dance. (Check out the video below.) Then to close out the show Randolph invited the warm up and recently signed to Atlantic Records band, The Sheepdogs, to join the band on stage.

If Robert Randolph and the Family Band come to town I recommend seeing the show, for me it has always been a good time.
